Drainage Engineer

  • Location: Bristol
  • Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
  • Experience: Minimum 6 Years’ relevant experience in drainage design
  • Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Position. Monday to Friday.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Drainage Engineer to lead and contribute to the successful delivery of a wide variety of infrastructure and development projects. You’ll play a key role in the design, management, and delivery of drainage strategies and designs, working closely with clients, statutory authorities, and fellow professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop drainage strategies and detailed designs for both private and adoptable systems (foul and surface water).
  • Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports in line with national and local planning policy.
  • Produce hydraulic modelling and drainage design using industry-standard software such as Causeway Flow.
  • Produce technical drawings and specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, water companies, and other stakeholders to secure technical approvals (S104, S106, S185, SAB, LLFA, etc).
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Prepare fee proposals and invoices, monitor budgets and deadlines.
  • Attend design team and site meetings and provide technical support during construction phases.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and technical development.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  •  Relevant Civil Engineering background (BEng, MEng, HNC, HND) or equivalent;
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in drainage design for development infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of SuDS, Flood Risk, Building Regulations, DCG and national planning policy.
  • Proficient in relevant software including AutoCAD, Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage, Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong report writing, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Structural Engineer

  • Location: Bristol

  • Experience: Minimum 3 Years’ post grad experience
  • Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Position. Monday to Friday.

Role Overview:

We have opportunities for Structural Engineers developing outline and detailed structural designs for residential and commercial projects. You’ll carry out structural analysis working with the main structural materials and apply sound engineering judgment to deliver practical, buildable, and sustainable solutions aligned with the design brief and site constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop both outline and detailed structural schemes for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with current Eurocodes or British Standards. Your work will span residential and commercial buildings with contract values ranging from £50,000 to £7,000,000.
  • Carry out structural analysis and design across various materials, including concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.
  • Produce or oversee clearly presented calculation reports for Building Control approval.
  • Produce or oversee the creation of general arrangements and detailed drawings using AutoCAD. Ability to produce hand-drawn schemes and typical details is advantageous.
  • Apply engineering judgment to develop pragmatic solutions, considering site constraints, design briefs, buildability, and sustainability.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Background: Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Chartered Engineer status with MIstructE or MICE, or actively working towards it.
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of Eurocodes and relevant British Standards. Competence in technical software such as TEDDS, Robot, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Regulatory Understanding: Familiarity with CDM Regulations and Building Regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication abilities to effectively collaborate with design teams and clients.
  • Personal Attributes: Analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines both independently and as part of a team.
