Luke Jerram | Palm Temple

The Palm Temple is an artwork by Luke Jerram based on a 5m tall x 10m long x 3.2m wide spiralling lamella dome structure. It is made from cedar wood and references stained glass with its dichroic panelled windows.

The dome was modelled as a 3D skeletal structure formed by triangular elements with nominally pinned joints. Its aerodynamic shape, the inherent ‘in-plane’ stiffness of the triangles, along with carefully engineered joints, help it to resist both wind and gravity loads.

This installation was originally assembled and displayed in London and is now on permanent display at the University of Bristol.  Read more about it here https://www.lukejerram.com/palm-temple
