Brit Awards 2022 | Pylons
The Pylons formed part of the stage set for the Brit awards ceremony and were based on the Brit award statue but taking the form of an electricity pylon. One statue was tilted in two directions and the other was designed to look like a ‘broken’ structure with the top section suspended from the roof and the bottom section sitting on the stage floor. The statues were fabricated using steel angle and plate sections with triangular forms similar to the structure of an electricity pylon. This provided a light-weight but very stiff structure, concrete ballast blocks were used on the leg bases to ensure the Pylon did not overturn. The structures were analysed using computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software to assess the loadings from internal wind pressures both during installation and when in their permanent tilted position.
